What is Addition?

Addition is the total amount when you combine different numbers together.
For example: Lets say I have 4 dogs, and I buy 3 more dogs. The total amount
of dogs I have is now 4 dogs "plus" 3 dogs "equals" 7 dogs.

How to do single digit addition

In order to add two single digit numbers, simply count all the numbers together and there you have your answer!
For example:
Lets visualize 3 + 2.
Lets draw 3 circles representing the the number 3: O O O and lets draw 2 circles representing 2: O O
If you count all the circles together, we have 5 total because O O O + O O = O O O O O = 5

How to do multiple digit addition

A easy method of doing multiple digit addition is to stack the numbers directly on top of each other, lining up the digit's place.
Example: 456 + 111 would be rewritten as:

  456
+ 111
______

then, simply add up the numbers from right to left or from smallest digit to highest digit place.
ex)
  456
+ 111
_______
567

because 6+1 = 7, 5+1 = 6 and 4 + 1 = 5, concatentating them altogether we get 765.
